The Tobacco Education and Use Prevention Advisory Council (TAC) meets four times per year to provide advice to the Department of Health relating to the Comprehensive Tobacco Education and Use Prevention Program (Bureau of Tobacco Prevention Program). The meeting will provide updates for the TAC about the program's progress, as well as additional information about the media, tobacco cessation, evaluation, and community program contracts which are underway. There will be additional discussion in the Advisory Council Subcommittee breakout sessions during this meeting.

The Advisory Committee recommends funding of prevention programs committed to reducing the burden of the leading causes of death and disability by emphasizing effective prevention strategies. Committee members must meet annually to review funding, programs and to recommend plans for the future as a requirement of continued federal funding.
